Boston-based heavy music pioneers Converge have released a new four song E.P. titled Beautiful Ruin. Recording during The Dusk In Us sessions, this E.P. completes the release of all their recorded material from that time period. Each song on Beautiful Ruin is a staccato burst of emotion from Converge at their most raw; viciously precise yet alluringly out of control.
On the heels of their recently released third full-length Capture The Flag, co-ed feminist punk band War On Women have unveiled a powerful music video for the track “Anarcha.” Vocalist Shawna Potter commented, “This song is about all the stories our country has buried or ignored. I wanted to memorialize Anarcha, Lucy, and Betsey in the best way I knew how, through song, and the shooting of this video just happened to coincide with tearing down a statue of J. Marion Sims, the man who experimented on them and other enslaved women.”
As the opulent melodrama of Emma Ruth Rundle’s Marked For Death (2016, Sargent House) has settled into stillness, the singer-songwriter has teased the next chapter of her oeuvre. Today, Emma Ruth Rundle has announced her forthcoming tertiary full-length album, On Dark Horses, and has premiered its first single; a poised, heavy-pulsed meditation on a life lived piecemeal titled “Fever Dreams.” Along with the new track, Rundle has announced that she’ll be hitting the road this fall—dates can be found below.
Ahead of the release of their new album Love In Shadow on September 21st, SUMAC will be touring throughout the U.S. midwest and east coast. Love In Shadow, the band's third full-length album, delves into the innate warmth of human magnetism and the cold realities of corrupted love. The trio explore these complexities by employing minimal tools and the tactile immediacy of abstract expressionists, juxtaposing intricately composed arrangements against unbridled improvisations.

San Francisco-based black metal weirdos Mamaleek are set to release Out of Time, their fifth full-length album and second for The Flenser. Musically, Mamaleek stands apart from the Bay Area’s most well-known black metal exports (Weakling, Leviathan, et al), and their connection to the genre grows more abstract with each release. This is especially evident on Out of Time, where the band has intensified their unique approach to heavy music with a variety of unusual samples—such as crooning from Turkish concerts, advertisements for items that long exist, and fragments of old pop songs.
On September 21st, SUMAC - the trio of Aaron Turner (ISIS, Old Man Gloom, Mamiffer), Nick Yacyshyn (Baptists, Erosion), and Brian Cook (Russian Circles) - will be releasing new album Love In Shadow. Earlier this year, SUMAC released their acclaimed collaborative effort with legendary Japanese artist Keiji Haino, American Dollar Bill - Keep Facing Sideways, You're Too Hideous To Look At Face On.
Jaye Jayle, the Evan Patterson-led Americana-noir project have premiered another new single from the new full-length, No Trail and Other Unholy Paths. The slow burning synth track - “As Soon As Night" has premiered via The Quietus, where Evan remarks “’As Soon As Night' is the most enjoyable song to perform on the album. Originally, I called it 'The Break Up Song.’ The words are very clear. If there's any confusion maybe give the song another listen, maybe a little louder this time, and let the sounds just spiral around the story."
Denver-based industrial duo Echo Beds began as a one-off live set played in a local warehouse in 2010. Sensing immediately that they’d only scratched the surface of their potential, the duo (comprised of Keith Curtis and Tom Nelsen) began experimenting with hand-built instruments and manufactured sounds—such as recordings of broken glass and a metal filing cabinet—in order to explore and interpret the sounds of industry as a sonic landscape.
